How to care for merino wool
How to wash in a washing machine
- Turn the laundry inside out, fold it, and place it in a laundry net.
- Add a neutral detergent for delicate clothes and fabric softener.
- Select the "delicate" or "hand wash" cycle.
- Spin lightly.
How to hand wash
- Prepare a washing solution in a basin (water temperature 30℃ or less).
When washing merino wool, use water at 30℃ or less. Using hot water can damage the fibers. Also, be sure to keep the water temperature consistent from washing to rinsing. - Turn the laundry inside out, fold it, and gently press to wash.
- Once the dirt is removed, change the water and rinse (wash and rinse within about 5 minutes).
- As a finishing touch, dissolve fabric softener in water and let the wool absorb it.
- Place the folded item in a laundry net and spin (for about 30 seconds).
How to dry
After washing merino wool, lay it flat to dry immediately. Lay it flat immediately in a well-ventilated, relatively cool place to prevent it from losing shape. *Hanging it on a hanger can cause it to lose its shape. Be careful of direct sunlight, as it can damage merino wool fibers or cause shrinkage. Also, merino wool fibers tighten when washed, so smooth out any wrinkles before drying.
Using a wire net or similar can make drying easier, so give it a try.
If merino wool is left in water for too long, the fibers will harden.
If the fibers harden, they will felt, ruining the soft texture.
When washing, do it quickly and for a short time.
After drying, pressing with an iron restores the texture.
After washing merino wool, ironing is recommended to restore its texture.
Set the iron to the wool setting or medium steam at 130-160°C.
Apply steam to suppress fluff and stretch out any shrinkage.
This not only suppresses fluff but also helps prevent pilling.
