Here are some tips for making your cotton products last longer.
Washing in a washing machine
- Put in a laundry net
Fold lightly and place in a laundry net. Turn the dirty parts outward. - Wash
Wash on a delicate cycle such as the "dry cycle" or "hand wash cycle" of your washing machine. For dirty areas, pre-treat by applying a small amount of laundry detergent directly to the soiled area and letting it soak in. - Spin dry
Shorten the final spin cycle to reduce stress on the fibers. Aim for 40 seconds to 1 minute, stopping and removing it midway will help it last longer.
Handwashing
- Make cleaning solution
Fill a washbasin or sink with water and add laundry detergent according to the amount of water. - Press wash
Place the folded garment in the cleaning solution and repeatedly press down and lift up. - Rinse detergent and spin dry
Refill the washbasin with clean water and rinse the detergent from the clothing until no more suds appear. Place in a net and spin dry in the washing machine for just under 1 minute. - Soak in fabric softener and spin dry
For the final touch, quickly immerse it in a solution of fabric softener and then spin dry again.
How to wash organic cotton
Even though it's cotton, there's also organic cotton, which is a high-purity cotton material that doesn't use chemicals from cultivation to processing and dyeing. This organic cotton has a softer feel than regular cotton clothing and can maintain its softness even after several washes.
To preserve this characteristic, the key is to "use laundry soap." Prepare laundry soap and carefully hand wash it.
