How to wash at home
While dry cleaning at a specialty store is highly recommended for silk, you can also extend the life of your silk products using the following method.
-
Hand wash in water below 30°C is essential
Wash in lukewarm water (30°C) by gently pressing the item with both hands or submerging it in water, avoiding any harsh rubbing that could damage the fabric. -
Use a neutral detergent or a specialized silk detergent.
A household detergent for silk is recommended. Silk is a natural protein, so chlorine bleach will damage the fabric and should never be used.
-
Soak for 3 minutes.
Soak in a silk cleaning solution for 3 minutes.
-
Swirl wash
Gently sway the pajamas back and forth, and left and right in the water to dislodge dirt. Gently stroke with your hands and rinse with water 2-3 times.
-
Rinse (with water below 30°C)
Change the water and rinse several times until no more foam appears.
-
Towel dry
Pick up the silk item, wrap it in a spread-out towel, and press to absorb excess water.
-
Dry
Hang to dry in a well-ventilated, shady area. That's it.
*Note: For silk knitwear or cashmere sweaters, do not hang them on hangers to dry. A drying rack basket is recommended.
